Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello Part 2.

Hi loves! Thanks for stopping by! We just got back from our Canada adventure – our first international trip with the twins – and I couldn’t wait to share more about it with you! I wanted to share our personal experience with you in this blog post Part 2, since we created so may amazing memories. If you would like to read more about the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello the history and more about the resort, which is SO awesome!!! Then definitely click here for Part 1 first! 🙂 I included more images of the property in that post as well! You don’t want to miss it.

First, I want to share that flying to Montreal from New York was the easiest flight I’ve ever done. It was only a 45 minute flight!! I don’t know why I always thought it was so far away? Even customs was the easiest thing! I’ll touch more about the exact airport trip and traveling with twins in another post coming soon, but I just wanted to say that coming back from Canada – you go through security and then stop by a customs desk immediately after, and they go, “welcome home!” (AKA you’re considered in “America”). I couldn’t believe it. I’m so used to waiting forever in New York’s customs, it was so incredibly nice to land as if we flew domestic. Honestly, between the flight time and just how easy it was, I’m already planning my next trip back to Canada! 🙂

Okay, back to the trip! When we landed in Montreal, we had already arranged for a taxi to be there. Since we didn’t know the area and have never been to Canada before this was so nice, especially since we had the babies and multiple suitcases and bags. He met us inside the airport, and helped us get on our way. I’m happy to share our contact if you’re planning your trip! Our driver was very sweet, and had a mini van to accommodate Marc, his mom, the two babies and myself. On the way there he talked a lot about the area, and shared his knowledge, some fakes and a few jokes with us!

Pulling into the driveway of the The Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is breathtakingly beautiful, but it’s the walk into the lobby that totally takes you aback. In the lobby you’re greeted with a three story, six-sided fireplace surrounded by the log cabin architecture – it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.  When we arrived, our room wasn’t quite ready yet, so we checked our luggage in the lobby and took a quick tour of the resort before sitting down for lunch. We spoke with the experiences team because we knew the weather would be a little icky the weekend we went, so we wanted to make sure we did the one thing that was on our bucket-list, dog sledding. We were beyond thrilled they were able to accommodate us that afternoon!

Before heading outside, we learned our room was ready and went to go check it out! The rooms definitely mirror the rustic charm of the resort and I absolutely am here for it. In the rooms they had two pack and plays, an extra mini fridge, a microwave and two baby-size robes hanging in the closets for the boys. If this isn’t going above and beyond hospitality, I don’t know what is!? It was the sweetest surprise, and as a first time traveler with the babies, I didn’t even think about ask for a fridge to store milk and their baby food in. I really appreciate how thoughtful they were about this and throughout the entire trip. Also wanted to point out that the building is wheelchair and stroller accessible, so it was super easy to get around with them in their strollers the entire visit!

Dog sledding was hands down one of the coolest things ever. The huskies are absolutely beautiful, and it was so cool to experience and learn more about Quebec’s culture. I shared the whole experience in a video here! This is definitely one of the activities that is fun for the whole family. The ride was about 15-20 minutes and they said we could bring the babies if we kept them in the carriers. However, we played that part by ear with the weather and since we had Marc’s mom there, we left them inside with her to look after.

After dogsledding we explored the grounds a little bit, we checked out where you can go ice-skating and walked by the Land Rover Experience. Here you can test drive the capabilities of the Land Rover and go off roading in is all sorts of different terrains! The best part? YOU get to be the driver, but someone is in the car with you to tell you what to do if you need assistance! I just think this is so cool and is also something that is totally up my alley. There are only so many locations around the world that do this, so it’s really awesome that the Fairmont Montebello is one of them. It wasn’t open because of the weather, however this is something I’m DEFINITELY coming back to do!!

After dog sledding we got back to the room to relax before dinner at the Bistro restaurant in the resort. I ordered the salad and French onion soup – it was delicious!! We were so wiped from traveling, it was so nice they had options of restaurants to dine at only steps away from our room. At dinner we surprised Marc’s mom with a spa treatment as a thank you for joining us on this trip. For our first trip, and being incredibly nervous and excited about it at the same time, it really was so nice to have the extra set of hands and someone to help us out over the extended weekend trip. We also wanted to start creating memories as a family together, and this was a special trip to do that! Now I know she loves a good Mojito ;).

Saturday and Sunday were spent relaxing, trying out a curling class, spending time at the spa and pool and enjoying the most delicious meal at their steakhouse. I know you probably think I’m exaggerating, but it really was so good. We actually made reservations to go back the next night as we were leaving, haha!! The first night I had the filet and the second night I had a local trout. Both were incredible and you can mix and match a variety of toppings, sauces and a variety of vegetable sides. The gluten-free chocolate lava cake is also a MUST. Speaking of food – Sunday brunch is an absolute must! The Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is known for it, and people and guests come from all over for it! I am still craving those maple butter crepes!!!

All in all, it was the perfect weekend escape, but we definitely didn’t have enough time and we left wanting more! I’ve already sold my family on it, as well as Marc’s and we also teased the idea with bring a group of friends up! Haha! This definitely won’t be the last time you see us there. We already can’t wait to go back! If you have any questions or comments, please leave a comment below! xx A
