HELLOOO!!!! HAPPY New Years!!! It’s officially happening. My first post of the year – woo!!!! This post is special because not only does my lil’ cutie make a cameo, 😛 but I’m also talking about our experience together training for a half marathon – well, thus far at least! It’s a challenge we decided to take on together, and are signing up for a race in May before our June wedding. Why are we doing it? Well, for a couple reasons. Of course we wanted to get back in shape before our big day, and that is a huge motivator. However, training for a marathon is more than the physical benefits. The mental and emotional benefits of setting goals, completing them, and working together on something is the best part. The last time I trained, I did it alone and didn’t enjoy the experience. This time, it’s a lot more fun because were pushing each other and there is more of a competitive aspect behind it, even if we aren’t running together every day! It’s also been fun to enjoy something together that isn’t going out to eat, or spending money doing – every time we work out together it’s like a little date, and that’s what I love most! Getting back to enjoying the little things, and appreciating moments together. <3 This is a new adventure for us, but so is marriage! We have a long way to go, and a LOT more training to do, but I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else!
This month I partnered with DSW, to share our favorite running shoes that I linked for you below. 🙂 I’ve been loving my blush New Balance sneakers. They are so incredibly light, which is perfect for running, but also comfortable to wear now for my BBG training too! One thing I learned from my last marathon is that long distance running is not only hard on your body, but your shoes too, and it is important to replace them after so many “miles” of running. I love the prices DSW has to offer, and that I don’t feel bad when I need to replace my running sneakers when they ware out. I’m going to continue to keep you updated with how training is going, because I want you all to know that you are capable of doing this too! If you want of course! When we started, Marc and I couldn’t run for more than a minute at a time, and after 4 weeks I just finished running 2 miles straight for the first time in years! It takes time and it’s not easy, but every step is a milestone and you CAN do it if you want to. Cheers to conquering new goals, adventures and a healthier lifestyle! x, A
