The best part of traveling is seeing new cultures, meeting new people and exploring parts of the world you never could ever imagine existed. Grand Cayman is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever stepped foot on. They call it the 7 mile beach, and it really is 7 miles of pure heaven! With water so crisp and blue, it almost looks fake! No! Really! We kept calling it “Gatorade” water, haha (just don’t try drinking it! It’s pretty salty 😉 ). As most of you have seen on my Instagram, recently I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the newly renovated Westin Grand Cayman. I broke down our trip below, but I just wanted to point out that it also makes for the perfect Wedding and/or Honeymoon destination too! With direct flights from NYC – it was so easy to fly in and out of! And if you fly Cayman Air – don’t be caught off guard to see the party starting before you land. They serve up the best rum punch on the flight, ha!
DAY 1: Arrival, Beach Time, Lunch & Dinner on Property
We arrived around lunch time, quickly changed and ran down to the beach for lunch. The property has cabanas you can rent, so we sat and ate lunch under the cabana. The food is SO delicious with a ton of vegan and vegetarian options too! Since I ate on the plane, I ordered the Summer Salad with was a combination of fresh fruit, cucumbers and tomatoes tossed in a vinaigrette. We then met with the rest of the crew on the trip (this is the part I love the most!) After a quick chat, we got ready for cocktails, toured the hotel and sat down for a dinner on the beach. I think I tried one of everything off the menu! It was all. so. good! And so fresh! If you visit, you have to try the crab cakes, they were my favorite. Another thing I love so much about the Westin Grand Cayman is that there is always live music – every single night! To me, this just sets the mood and is always a good time. There was a new artist every evening, and they all were incredible!
DAY 2: Brunch, Stingray City, Friday Night Beach BBQ
I think this was my favorite day out of the entire trip! We kicked off the morning with a delicious breakfast on the beach at the Westin Grand Cayman (if you ever visit – order the egg white frittata!! Made with a ton of green vegetables and goat cheese, Mmm! It was my favorite!), before heading out to hop on a catamaran to Stingray City – and yes! You read that correctly. It literally was an isolated area PACKED with giant stingrays. It was one of those moments, where you really don’t want to do it, but you would be more upset if you left and didn’t do it! Eek!!! After having a little moment, I jumped right in! It was really scary at first, because they are so big and sneak up on you, but they’re really sweet! After getting back on the catamaran, we rode to a coral reef where you could jump off again to snorkel. You would not believe the fish! It was like floating in a giant aquarium. Side note: the company who took us out was Red Sails, they were a ton of fun, but very professional and made me feel safe. If you’re down there check them out 🙂 . Later that evening back at the Westin Grand Cayman, we sat down to enjoy their BBQ dinner on the beach. This dinner is every Friday, and if I could fly down every Friday for those fish tacos I TOTALLY would. They had a huge variety of delicious items with an island twist! It was so good! Again, live music inside and outside, string Lights, the sound of the ocean – it was a such a fun evening!
DAY 3/4: Watersports, Lunch Date, Spa, Canama Bay
We kicked off day 3 with jet skies! It was so much fun! The Westin Grand Cayman has a spot on it’s beaches where you can rent the jet skies, paddles boards and other fun equipment to take out onto the water. It was so convenient and nice to know you didn’t have to leave the property to explore. Our group took there jet skies to private snorkeling areas out in the water – again, it was unreal to see the fish and the coral! It really was such a cool experience to jump off your jet ski into the open water and snorkel, and then climb back on to ride to the next spot. After Snorkeling, we re-fueled on fish tacos before hitting the spa. To be perfectly honest, I’m so bummed I didn’t stop by the spa sooner! It was so relaxing. I picked the massage combo, and it was one of the best massages I’ve ever gotten. UNREAL. What’s really cool is the private cabana for couples massages on the beach – perfect for your honeymoon or couples getaway! The last night on the island we took a taxi to Canama Bay, which was such a cute town area! Shopping, restaurants, bars – there was so much to do! It was fun to leave the resort and to see other parts of the island too, and only took about 15 mins to get there.
Overview of the Westin Grand Cayman. All and all, the trip was amazing! The hotel was brand spankin’ new. All the amenities are up-to-date and the entire stay was extremely comfortable and beautiful. What’s so great about the Westin Grand Cayman is you can choose how you want to spend your vacation. If you want to be more active, theres an amazing gym and ton of water sports you an do. If you don’t want to miss your morning coffee runs, the hotel has the cutest cafe just downstairs thats open first thing for you early birds, who want your coffee! You can walk for miles and miles on the beach, or rent a cabana/chairs and lay out all day long. You can have an imitate dinner at one of their restaurants, or join the party at one of their many events/bars. It really is an experience for all! Plus, if you bring your kids along, there is tons they can enjoy too that will keep them busy and entertained. My Westin Grand Cayman favorites? Gah! There were too many favorites, but I’ll do my best to list them: stunning views of the ocean, amazing meals, fun night life on property, close to the airport, unbelievable spa, on property water sports.. I know I’m missing something because there were so many good things about this place!! (as I’m sitting here smiling about the trip of course! Ha!) Looking back, it was so fun to go and meet new people; but I would love to go back with Marc! The space is so beautiful for weddings or your honeymoon too! Luckily for us, we got to see a wedding that was held first hand, which was stunning. Even traveling to the Westin Grand Cayman for a mini moon would be perfect because it is so convenient to get to you won’t lose too much time traveling there and back. Hmm.. maybe that’s not a bad idea! 😉 I already can’t wait until I can go back.. xx
