The Ocean House, Rhode Island was nothing short than a dream.. in fact, every single aspect of the trip was a pinch worthy moment. If you ever get the chance to visit The Ocean House, be prepared to catch your jaw at the front door! I know I had to, several times! Greeted by the warm, yellow facade, it didn’t take long to fall madly in love. When I first arrived, I sat down and had lunch on the back patio that overlooked the croquet field AND Taylor Swift’s house that sits up on the hill of Watch Hill (I guess I’m not the only one who fell madly in love with Rhode Island!).
I was invited to visit with a long time favorite, Lilly Pulitzer, who partnered with The Ocean House this summer to decorate the beachside cabanas and one of the suites at the Watch Hill Inn, a sister property down the street. Let me tell you! The two go together like white on rice – two peas in a pod, really! The bold prints in Lilly Pulitzer’s designs pair perfectly well with the grand presence of The Ocean House, like two lifelong best friends. A lot in the way they described Lilly, everyone’s best friend. I think what I love most about the Lilly Pulitzer brand is learning about Lilly – young, fearless and EPIC. (You can read her story here).
Back to the trip! The days were spent relaxing, eating, boating, sunbathing and exploring the charming town of Watch Hill. I love places that haven’t changed much; places that bring you back to an era you never lived in, but can only imagine. A more simpler time. The Ocean House was all of that and more. While it’s been newly rebuilt, not a single screw doesn’t miss the stories it tells and the memories it shares. And only being a three hour train ride away from Manhattan, it was the perfect East Coast getaway!
